How to read the enemy matchup matrix

Every enemy and boss in Minecraft Dungeons 2 takes a damage multiplier for each of the 10 damage types. The recovered matrix covers 117 matchup states and 1,170 enemy and damage-type pairs, with 160 of those pairs different from normal damage.

The 10 damage types

  • Melee
  • Ranged
  • Fire
  • Frost
  • Lightning
  • Poison
  • Soul
  • Blast
  • TNT
  • Elemental
Weaknesses
Above ×1 means the target takes increased damage. ×1.5 is a +50% increase.
Neutral
Exactly ×1 means normal damage. Most pairs resolve to this value.
Resistances
Below ×1 means the target takes reduced damage. ×0.2 is a -80% reduction, not -20%.

No weakness is a real answer

Some bosses have resistances but no increased-damage weakness. The correct answer there is to avoid the resisted types instead of inventing a weakness. Other targets have no non-normal entry at all, which means every type deals normal damage.

How the data is recovered

The matrix is built from recovered incoming-damage overrides plus the normal-damage rule. Damage resistance and status immunity stay separate, and no multiplier is guessed from an entity or effect name.

Use the boss and mob database for full stats, attacks and rewards, and keep this tool for the damage matchup decision.

Data boundary

  • A missing enemy and damage-type pair means normal ×1 damage. It is a valid rule, not missing data.
  • Blast and TNT are two separate damage types. A Blast weakness does not transfer to TNT.
  • Elemental is its own matchup channel and is never stacked or multiplied with Fire, Frost, Lightning or Poison.
  • Incoming damage multipliers and status immunity are separate systems. This tool only reports damage matchups.
  • Weapon output is named matchup-adjusted base DPS on purpose. It is not final DPS.
  • Artifacts only contribute a damage channel when their damage element is recovered. Their damage payload is not recovered, so only the multiplier is shown.
  • Game data version 1.1.1.0.

Frequently asked questions

What are enemy weaknesses in Minecraft Dungeons 2?

A weakness is a damage type that deals more than normal damage to a specific enemy. The recovered matrix gives each enemy a multiplier for all ten damage types, so a weakness is simply a multiplier above ×1.0.

What damage types are there?

Melee, Ranged, Fire, Frost, Lightning, Poison, Soul, Blast, TNT and Elemental. They are kept as ten separate channels.

What is Copper Monstrosity weak to?

Poison deals increased damage to Copper Monstrosity, while Lightning deals reduced damage. The full matrix for this target is shown on this page.

What is Mosstrosity weak to?

Mosstrosity takes increased Lightning damage and reduced Poison damage. Its other damage types deal normal damage.

What is Twisted Warden weak to?

No increased-damage weakness is present in the current matchup matrix. Soul and Melee deal reduced damage, and the remaining types deal normal damage.

Why does Twisted Warden show no weakness?

Because the recovered matrix only records resistances for it. A page that lists a weakness for Twisted Warden would be reporting a value the data does not support.

Why does ranged damage do so little to Enderman?

Enderman has a strong ranged resistance in the recovered matrix, so a ranged channel keeps only a fraction of its normal output against that target.

Is Blast the same as TNT?

No. Blast and TNT are two separate matchup channels, so a Blast weakness or resistance never transfers to TNT.

Does Elemental mean Fire, Frost and Lightning?

No. Elemental is its own matchup channel. It is not a combined key and is never multiplied together with the named elements.

Does damage resistance mean status immunity?

No. Incoming damage multipliers and status immunity are separate systems. This tool reports damage matchups only.

What does ×0.5 resistance mean?

It means the target takes 50% of normal damage from that type, a 50% reduction. A multiplier of ×0.2 is a 20% remaining value, which is an 80% reduction.

Which enemies are weak to Lightning?

Use the Browse a Damage Type mode and choose Lightning to see every target that takes increased Lightning damage, every neutral target and every resistant target at once.

Can I test my build against a boss?

Yes. Test My Build derives damage channels from a selected weapon and from artifacts whose damage element is recovered, and shows which channels are helped, neutral or resisted. It does not invent a total build score.
