Hidden Stats

Minecraft Dungeons 2 Hidden Stats Explained

Two weapons can look almost identical on the inventory screen and behave completely differently in combat. Damage is only part of the story.

Quick Answer

Minecraft Dungeons 2 weapons carry combat values the normal item card does not fully show: per-hit combo damage, hit count, attack timing, DPS, reach, arc, stagger, knockback and jump-attack behavior. Ranged weapons also differ by base shot, charged shot, fire rate, ammo and recovery, and Unique weapons can change numeric combat values on top of their fixed effect. Armor hides its build potential in each set's eligible effect pool.

Two Weapons, Same Card, Different Fight

Pick two weapons of the same type and compare the values that decide how they actually play. This is a teaching example, not the full comparison tool.

The Gap

The Stats Behind the Item Card

The item screen is a summary. Combat reads more values than it shows, which is why two weapons that list similar power can feel so different.

Pick a stat to see what it means, why it changes combat and what it does not do.

Damage

What it means
How much health one attack removes across a full combo.
Why it matters
It sets how fast a single target goes down.
What it does not do
A bigger number does not automatically mean a better weapon.

Melee

Melee Combat Stats

A melee weapon is not one damage number. It is a sequence of hits with its own timing, reach and control.

Hit 2

Average per hit
57
Combo total
114
Combo Time
4,5 s

The average divides the combo total across its hits. Individual hits can still differ, so treat it as a shape, not a fixed per-hit table.

Damage per Hit

What it is
The damage of a single hit inside the combo.
Why it matters
Individual hits can carry different values, so the combo total is not one swing multiplied.
Example
A three-hit combo can total far more than any single hit.
Use it when
When you break down exactly where a weapon's damage comes from.

Hit Count

What it is
How many hits make up one full attack sequence.
Why it matters
One animation can produce more than one hit, which static tables often miscount.
Example
Two weapons with the same total can land it in one hit or in several.
Use it when
When a weapon feels like it hits more often than the card suggests.

Combo Damage

What it is
The total damage of every hit in one full combo.
Why it matters
It is the honest total, instead of assuming one swing equals one hit.
Example
Combo damage is what a full attack cycle delivers before it repeats.
Use it when
When comparing the payoff of one complete attack cycle.

Attack Timing and DPS

What it is
How long the combo takes, and the damage per second that follows from it.
Why it matters
DPS is not attack speed and it is not combo damage. It is the two measured against each other.
Example
A slow heavy combo and a fast light combo can end up with similar DPS for different reasons.
Use it when
When you want a fair comparison instead of a raw damage number.

DPS here is a normalized comparison built from base attack values and animation timing. It is not the final damage a hero deals in a real fight, because Item Power, Effects, Enchantments and the encounter all change the outcome.

Spacing

Reach and Arc

Reach answers how far an attack travels. Arc answers how wide it sweeps. They are different questions and they change different things.

Reach: how far

Reach is the maximum distance at which an attack can still connect. It decides your safe spacing in a fight.

Pike5,3 blocks
Sculker Claws1,8 blocks

Real melee weapons, longest and shortest reach in the current data.

  • Safety: you connect from farther away from danger.
  • Boss uptime: you spend less time walking back into range.
  • Crowd handling: you can tag enemies without stepping into them.
  • Commitment: shorter reach means every swing is a bigger risk.

Arc: how wide

Arc is how much of a circle the swing covers around you. A narrow arc hits precisely; a wide arc catches a group.

Control

Stagger and Knockback

Damage, stagger and knockback are three separate effects of the same hit. They are why a moderate-damage weapon can feel more disruptive than a high-damage one.

StatWhat it mainly decides
DamageHow much health is removed.
StaggerHow strongly the hit disrupts an enemy and interrupts what it was doing.
KnockbackHow strongly the hit pushes an enemy out of position.

Stagger measures disruption, not health removed. A hard-hitting, low-stagger weapon and a lighter, high-stagger weapon are different tools even when their damage looks close.

Momentum

A published gear effect that increases the chance to stagger enemies on hit.

  • Increases chance to stagger enemies on hit by 20%.
  • Increases chance to stagger enemies on hit by 30%.
  • Increases chance to stagger enemies on hit by 40%.
  • Increases chance to stagger enemies on hit by 60%.
Knockback

A published gear effect that increases how far attacks push enemies.

  • Attacks do 15% more knockback.
  • Attacks do 20% more knockback.
  • Attacks do 30% more knockback.
  • Attacks do 40% more knockback.

Jump Attacks

Jump Attacks Are a Separate Profile

A jump attack is not automatically one hit of the normal combo. It can carry its own damage, stagger and reach.

Because jump attacks are tracked separately, a weapon's value can change for a playstyle built around jumping, rolling or jump-triggered effects.

Treat the normal combo and the jump attack as two profiles when you judge a weapon.

Jumpshot

A published fixed effect that increases jump shot damage.

  • Increases jump shot damage dealt by 6%.

Enchantments That Trigger on Jump

Some Enchantments only fire on a jump attack. If your build uses them, the jump profile matters as much as the combo.

Ranged

Ranged Weapons Have Two Damage Stories

A ranged weapon fires differently depending on how you use it. The card shows one shot number, but combat cares about the firing state, the rate and the ammo pool.

Base Shot vs Charged Shot

A bow can fire a quick uncharged shot or a slower charged shot. Those are two firing behaviors, not two views of the same number.

A crossbow does not follow the same charge model as a bow, so comparing the two by one damage number misses how each actually fires.

Why a Single Damage Number Misleads

A bow's biggest charged hit and its uncharged fire rate describe different firing behaviors. Combining them directly can create a DPS number that never happens in a real fight.

Ammo Is More Than a Count

Ammo capacity, fire rate and recovery together decide how long you can keep firing. A huge burst with a small pool plays very differently from lower shot damage with a deep, fast-recovering pool.

Unique Weapons

Do Uniques Have the Same Stats as Their Base?

A Unique is not just a base weapon plus a fixed effect. Some Uniques also change the numeric combat values of the weapon they roll from.

Quick Answer

Not always.

Every Unique shares a weapon family and moveset with its base, and carries a fixed effect. On top of that, some Uniques publish different combat values from their base weapon, so the difference is more than the orange text.

Armor

Armor Sets Hide Their Build Potential

Armor is not explained by a single visible defense number. What a set really decides is which effects it can roll and which build identity it can support.

From set to build identity

  1. Armor Set
  2. Eligible Effects
  3. Build identity

Two sets can look similar and still offer very different effects. The eligible effect pool is what makes a set work for a build long before any piece drops.

Not every set can roll every effect

Some effects are available to every set and others to only a few. Eligibility, not just luck, decides what you can build.

What this page does not claim: an exact damage-reduction percentage, or effective health derived from armor alone. Those values are not in the published data, so no build ranking here depends on them.

Item Power

Base Stats Are Not Final In-Game Damage

The numbers on this page are combat values, not the damage you will see in a fight. Item Power and everything else in the combat chain sit between the two.

What we know

  • Item Power is per piece of gear, not per character.
  • Item Power affects hero-to-mob and mob-to-hero combat.
  • New drops are generated around the power you already have.
  • The Blacksmith upgrade ceiling is tied to Hero Level.

What we do not claim here

  • An exact Item Power damage curve.
  • Effective health derived from armor alone.
  • Community breakpoint numbers treated as exact rules.

From base value to a real fight

  1. Base combat value
  2. Item Power scaling
  3. Effects and Enchantments
  4. The encounter

The base values on weapon pages are the start of this chain, not the end. That is why the same weapon can feel stronger or weaker as your gear and content change.

Troubleshooting

Which Hidden Stat Explains Your Problem?

Start from what the game feels like, and find the combat value behind it.

The stat to look at

Attack timing and reach. A slower combo and a shorter reach both ask you to commit earlier, so look at both before blaming damage.

Data Boundaries

What This Page Knows, Calculates and Does Not Claim

Every value on this page carries one of three labels, so you always know how much to trust it.

  • Known

Read directly from the published combat data, such as combo damage, hit count, reach, arc, shot damage and ammo.

  • Calculated

Derived from known values and timing, such as DPS and combo time. Useful for comparison, not a final in-game number.

  • Not fully exposed

Values the published data does not pin down, such as an exact Item Power curve or an armor mitigation percentage. They are not invented here.

Freshness

How Current This Is

Stat definitions are stable, but individual weapon values move with balance updates. Weapon pages are re-checked more often than this guide.
